Last week, (17th-22nd August) a team of 15 GB swimmers aged 14-23 competed in the World Deaf Swimming Championships, finishing 7th in the medal rankings with 1 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze.
With a team of 15 swimmers, Great Britain are climbing the medals table at the World Deaf Swimming championships, happening at the moment in Texas. The championships started on Monday, and run through to Saturday, with live streaming available at their website http://www.wdsc2015.us/
According to research from the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), A third of children in England cannot swim by the time they leave primary school. The research suggests many non-swimmers have never had a school swimming lesson despite its being part of the national curriculum for seven-to-11-year-olds.
