Robert W
Hi I’m Rob. I have been a fully qualified Swim England level 2 teacher for over 15 years and level 1 coach for 14 years.
I used to swim competitively from the age of 9 till 16 and my passion to continue in the industry was incredibly strong and so I promptly became a level 1 teacher the following year.
My enthusiasm and passion to pass down my knowledge from swimming to others is just as strong to this day. I continue to swim for leisure and fitness to better understand teaching practices to help further improve other swimmers ranging from total beginners through to open water and competition.
There is nothing more rewarding to me than seeing swimmers progress. I believe I can help anyone at any level improve very quickly.

As a not very confident swimmer at all
As a not very confident swimmer at all, I started my lessons with Robert W and from my very first lesson, Robert made me feel very comfortable and from there I have only positive feedback as even at difficulty with certain strokes, Robert is very patient and calm and amazing at making you feel relaxed and be able to perform with no pressure. Robert is very patient, has a gentle approach, made me feel safe and turned my fear into making me laugh. Expertise is on form and very knowledgeable. Very happy I was given Robert to teach me how to swim, without Robert I think I may have given up after the first few lessons. Wonderful instructor and a genuine lovely gentleman. 😊

Its fine. The name lured me to look further at the SwimExpert information
I am a novice swimmer but already after just 6 half hour sessions i feel like i am swimming with so much more confidence, competence and enjoyment! My instructor Roberts excellent teaching technique really suits me. He is 100% committed and focused on my every move in the pool, explaining the next move very clearly and encouraging me all of the time. This serious subject of learning to swim better, is much more enjoyable than i ever thought it would be. I look forward to my next series of lessons very much.

Excellent
My 9 year old had swimming lessons with Rob at Bridgewood Manor. He was brilliant and my boy loved his lessons, he just needed an extra few after completing his lessons at school. He now has the confidence and ability to swim by himself after originally being terrified of the water. Rob is a great teacher, showing lots of encouragement and patience.

Highly recommended
I cannot recommend Robert at Maidstone Centre enough as a swimming teacher! He is incredibly skilled, patient, and professional. I initially took lessons with him for myself, and his teaching style made me feel confident and comfortable in the water. After seeing such great progress, I enrolled my two daughters in his lessons as well, and they absolutely love learning with him. Robert’s ability to tailor his approach to suit different skill levels is impressive, and he always creates a fun and encouraging environment. Thanks to Robert, we’ve all become stronger and more confident swimmers. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to improve their swimming skills!

FAQs
Here are a list of our most frequently asked questions from our valued customers.
That’s a tough one. How long is that piece of string? During your first lessons we will discuss your current abilities and your goals and set lesson plans that are sensible. Your instructor is the best person to give you a reasonable answer to this question once you have had a lesson or two with him or her.
Yes, unlike a lot of companies, we encourage our teachers to get in the water when needed to either demonstrate, support, or otherwise assist you in the learning process.
The most cost effective way to take lessons is to book in ‘blocks’ of lesson, and that’s how most of our customers book with us. However if you are unsure and want to try us out then you can always book a single lesson. Remember that all our lessons are backed by our progression guarantee so there is no reason not to book more than one lesson!
Lessons are generally either 30 or 60 minutes in duration. Most childrens’ lessons are 30 minutes, most adults 60 minutes, but this is dependent on your goals and needs. Why not phone the office today on 0330 111 29 29 to discuss which would be best for you?

Yes, our lessons are suitable for people with water anxiety. Our instructors have extensive experience supporting nervous swimmers and use gentle, confidence‑building techniques to help you overcome fear, make steady progress, and begin enjoying the water at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Unlike many swim schools, we operate all year round and are able to offer lessons also on many Bank Holidays. Simply enquire about the dates you are interested in.
Yes — in most cases you can continue lessons with the same instructor. Our instructors usually work at the same venue on the same day or across multiple days, so you can book sessions that align with their schedule. If an unexpected situation arises, such as your instructor being unwell, we will arrange another qualified instructor to teach your lesson.
Yes, you will need to bring your own towel. Towels are not provided at any of our venues (although some may charge for one if you forget to bring your towel with you)
Yes if, for example, you have two children then you can book a block of lessons and decide which child is to have which of the lessons.
Yes. All our venues allow a parent to watch their child having a lesson – some from poolside others from a viewing area. Facilities for more than one parent to view may be limited at some venues so please respect this one parent rule in this instance.
