Hi! My name is Christian. I am a dedicated swimming instructor who teaches all strokes and helps swimmers of every age and background feel safe, confident, and comfortable in the water.
Whether a swimmer is a complete beginner, wants to improve their technique, or is working to overcome a long-standing fear of the water, I offer patient, understanding guidance tailored specifically to their needs.
What truly distinguishes my teaching is my specialist expertise in supporting people with water-related anxieties, including aquaphobia, ablutophobia, and cymophobia. Few instructors bring together my decades of aquatic experience, academic grounding, and specific training in respiratory and neuropsychiatric health. This unique blend allows me to integrate gentle breathing techniques, nervous-system awareness, and confidence-building strategies into every session—an approach particularly valuable for swimmers who struggle with fear, anxiety, or sensory sensitivities.
I also work exceptionally well with children and hold SWIM ENGLAND SEQ Level 2 training, enabling me to guide young swimmers safely, calmly, and effectively.

I booked adult swimming lessons with Christian T due to my fear of water and having no prior experience swimming. He has been amazing at helping me overcome my fear of water (it was gone after the first 30 minutes)! He is calm, encouraging and supportive - I have learnt so much and made a lot of progress in just 4 lessons. I strongly recommend him as a swimming teacher for anyone as he is best teacher I have ever had.

Highly efficient …brilliant locations….excellent customer service very accommodating. The instructors are professional punctual excellent at what they do. Highly recommend Christian T my girls love him he’s fun and kind but gets them to somehow do the hard work in a enjoyable way. They LOVE their swim sessions…best part is their gaining the skills and reaching milestones at a steady pace.

Adult beginner- great experience with SwimExpert
I started with Swim Expert about 3 months ago. I had with no swimming experience and was quite nervous in the water, but my coach Dr Christian’s patience really helped me feel comfortable and build confidence step by step. With his guidance, I learned the front crawl and now feel ready to move on to breaststroke. He explains things clearly and makes each lesson easy to follow. SwimExpert is also very easy to book with, and the staff are friendly and helpful whenever I had questions. Overall, a great experience and I would recommend both Dr Christian and SwimExpert to anyone starting out.

Great experience with Dr Christian
I had a lesson with a teacher whose teaching style didn’t feel like a good fit and requested a change. I was matched with Dr Christian in Brentford pool and I would give more than 5 stars if I could! He explains things to me really well in a way that I understand and helps me to focus on what’s important and what isn’t. He has a lot of experience which shows from the way he teaches, he explains different ways of doing the same stroke and the pros and cons. After struggling with group lessons for a long time, I have made more progress with Dr Christian in 4 lessons than I have in a group setting in 1 year. The lessons are fun and educational, and he is kind and honest and an enthusiastic teacher. This is a massive bonus especially as an adult learner when I have been at work all day or tired it is refreshing to be taught by someone who genuinely loves what they do. I look forward to learning more and becoming a confident swimmer :)

That’s a tough one. How long is that piece of string? During your first lessons we will discuss your current abilities and your goals and set lesson plans that are sensible. Your instructor is the best person to give you a reasonable answer to this question once you have had a lesson or two with him or her.
Yes, unlike a lot of companies, we encourage our teachers to get in the water when needed to either demonstrate, support, or otherwise assist you in the learning process.
The most cost effective way to take lessons is to book in ‘blocks’ of lesson, and that’s how most of our customers book with us. However if you are unsure and want to try us out then you can always book a single lesson. Remember that all our lessons are backed by our progression guarantee so there is no reason not to book more than one lesson!

Yes, our lessons are suitable for people with water anxiety. Our instructors have extensive experience supporting nervous swimmers and use gentle, confidence‑building techniques to help you overcome fear, make steady progress, and begin enjoying the water at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Unlike many swim schools, we operate all year round and are able to offer lessons also on many Bank Holidays. Simply enquire about the dates you are interested in.
Yes — in most cases you can continue lessons with the same instructor. Our instructors usually work at the same venue on the same day or across multiple days, so you can book sessions that align with their schedule. If an unexpected situation arises, such as your instructor being unwell, we will arrange another qualified instructor to teach your lesson.
Yes, you will need to bring your own towel. Towels are not provided at any of our venues (although some may charge for one if you forget to bring your towel with you)
Yes if, for example, you have two children then you can book a block of lessons and decide which child is to have which of the lessons.
Yes. All our venues allow a parent to watch their child having a lesson – some from poolside others from a viewing area. Facilities for more than one parent to view may be limited at some venues so please respect this one parent rule in this instance.
We accept most major debit or credit cards (except American Express) either via our website or by telephone payment to our office. We do not accept cash/cheques nor direct bank payments.
