Learning how to swim in my 50s was a daunting task
Learning how to swim in my 50s was a daunting task but one that I had to overcome as I knew swimming was a life-time skill to be enjoyed by all but somehow, I was just unable to learn while at school. I summoned up the courage and booked a block of 10 Lessons with Clare W and right from the very first lesson, even though I was extremely nervous since I hadn’t been in a pool for the past 30 years or so, I knew I had made the right decision. Clare’s an amazing instructor, she made me feel at ease in the water before the end of the first lesson and furthermore if at anytime I struggled with any part of the weekly lessons, she found a way to make it easier for me to understand and then try again and that’s a very special skill set to have! After 5 (1hour sessions) I can’t believe how comfortable I feel in the water, I can breathe underwater and float and I’m almost at the stage whereby I can do a basic front crawl without the floats – for me this is such a huge step and I’m so glad that I have had the opportunity to learn this invaluable lifetime skill with Clare W as my instructor, who I highly recommend. I now plan to book another block of 10 sessions with Clare W in the nearby future through SwimExpert. Thanks Clare W and thanks to SwimExpert – it was the right decision and also the perfect choice for me!

SwimExpert leases high-quality pool space from local hotels, providing communities w/ addt’l options for all ages/stages of swim lessons. We’ve found their admin staff to be professional & helpful. But more than anything, Luke M. — our child's instructor since Apr-2023 — consistently challenges and encourages our son twd greater skill in the water. Been taking my child to swimming lessons here for the past few years and has come such a long way to swimming. The current teacher Alex is excellent, gives clear instructions and most importantly encouragement to all the children in the class and will help if any don’t quite get it. Alistair is a really good instructor, he is kind, patient and knowledgable. Alun our son who is 4 has come on leaps and bounds in the time that he has been swimming with him. I can’t recommend him highly enough, whilst the lessons are somewhat expensive swimming is such an important life skill, they are well worth the money. Alun’s confidence in the water is unrecognisable from when he started 14 lessons ago, and he is even able to swim short distances unaided now. Alistair makes sure that every lesson is fun as well as developing key skills.
