Personal Statement

Swimming is something I can never get tired of. I love helping people learn what they need to become a better and more confident swimmer. From a young age I was always in the water for birthday parties and days out with the family. I then began swimming competitively at the age of 8 and represented my club at Regionals.

I was able to start my teaching journey at 15 helping out after school and on the weekends. I then completed my ASA level 1 and 2 swimming teachers courses and my NRASTC course recently. From introducing first time swimmers to the water and slowly see them become more confident is something I love to see. Whether you are young or old I cant wait to start to teach you the fundamentals and learn to enjoy swimming as much as I do.

I'd spent 12 months out of the pool and needed to regain some confidence in my swimming so I reached out to SwimExpert having used them last year. I had my sessions with Megan at Milton Keynes and in a short time my swim technique improved massively. Megan has a lovely encouraging nature and once she uncovers your strengths she makes you work hard! But all for the better. I got stronger and smarter with my swim and as a result I've put my techniques to the test and managed to put in a 1500m PB! I couldn't be happier!

As a complete hydrophobe the very thought of being around a pool never mind being in it and with other people filled em with dread! After careful research following a trip to Mexico in 2018 I decided that SwimExpert was the right choice and I was paired with Megan as my tutor. I started my lessons in January following a accident so not only did Megan begin to build my confidence around water and swimming, also helped me regain the strength and aided my mental and physical recovery following my trauma. Before long I was looking forward to being in the water and challenging myself to exceed my own expectations and our lessons were an absolute pleasure. Megan was so patient and kind, helping me to gain confidence in myself and in the water. My final lesson ended with me swimming 10 continuous lengths on my back - such a milestone! I can now visit my local pool where my lessons took place and enjoy a relaxing / challenging swim depending on my mood - 50 continuous lengths is my best to date! So a year on I am returning to Mexico to swim in the fresh water cenotes and the lovely hotel pools.  Thank you so much to SwimExpert and Megan for such a wonderful gift that will keep on giving me hours of pleasure and fun for years to come!
